Welcoming Autumn at Goslings 🍂
As the autumn term gets underway, we’ve been busy settling back into our routines and enjoying lots of opportunities to explore the new season together.
Getting Creative with Autumn Arts and Crafts
We’ve been getting creative with autumn-inspired arts and crafts, using the beautiful colours and shapes of autumn leaves as inspiration for our pictures. These seasonal activities are a wonderful way for the children to express their creativity while developing important fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Outdoor Play in Our Courtyard Garden
We’ve also been making the most of our outdoor space. Our courtyard garden has been a hive of activity, with the children enjoying sand play, building with Duplo and challenging each other to games of extra-large Connect Four.
Outdoor play gives the children plenty of opportunities to explore, problem-solve, build confidence and develop their social skills while having fun with their friends.
Exploring Transport Through Imaginative Play
Indoors, we’ve been exploring the theme of transport and travel, with lots of imaginative play using cars and different vehicles. The children have been busy creating their own play scenarios, talking and playing together, and using their imaginations as they explore the different ways we travel.
Developing Fine Motor Skills and Independence
Alongside all of this, we’ve been enjoying cutting activities and other fine motor exercises, helping the children develop their hand strength, coordination and independence.
These skills are particularly valuable as our older children gradually prepare for their next steps and, eventually, their transition to school.
Sharing Stories Together
There has also been plenty of time to slow down and enjoy stories together in our cosy story corner, accompanied by our teddy friends! ☺️ Sharing stories is a lovely way to encourage children’s communication, language and imagination.
A Wonderful Start to the Autumn Term
It has been a wonderful start to the autumn term at The Goslings Nursery School, filled with creative activities, outdoor play, imaginative learning and plenty of fun. We’re looking forward to seeing what the rest of the season brings! 🍁
