Welcoming Autumn at Goslings ��

As the autumn term gets underway, we’ve been busy settling back into our routines and enjoying lots of opportunities to explore the new season together.

Getting Creative with Autumn Arts and Crafts

We’ve been getting creative with autumn-inspired arts and crafts, using the beautiful colours and shapes of autumn leaves as inspiration for our pictures. These seasonal activities are a wonderful way for the children to express their creativity while developing important fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

Outdoor Play in Our Courtyard Garden

We’ve also been making the most of our outdoor space. Our courtyard garden has been a hive of activity, with the children enjoying sand play, building with Duplo and challenging each other to games of extra-large Connect Four.

Outdoor play gives the children plenty of opportunities to explore, problem-solve, build confidence and develop their social skills while having fun with their friends.

Exploring Transport Through Imaginative Play

Indoors, we’ve been exploring the theme of transport and travel, with lots of imaginative play using cars and different vehicles. The children have been busy creating their own play scenarios, talking and playing together, and using their imaginations as they explore the different ways we travel.

Developing Fine Motor Skills and Independence

Alongside all of this, we’ve been enjoying cutting activities and other fine motor exercises, helping the children develop their hand strength, coordination and independence.

These skills are particularly valuable as our older children gradually prepare for their next steps and, eventually, their transition to school.

Sharing Stories Together

There has also been plenty of time to slow down and enjoy stories together in our cosy story corner, accompanied by our teddy friends! ☺️ Sharing stories is a lovely way to encourage children’s communication, language and imagination.

A Wonderful Start to the Autumn Term

It has been a wonderful start to the autumn term at The Goslings Nursery School, filled with creative activities, outdoor play, imaginative learning and plenty of fun. We’re looking forward to seeing what the rest of the season brings! ��

What We’ve Been Up To Lately at Goslings Nursery School, Godalming

The children at Goslings Nursery School have been busy exploring, learning and having fun both indoors and outdoors as we make the most of the summer term.

Outdoor Adventures

On warmer days, the children have particularly enjoyed spending time in our garden area. The sand play area has been a favourite, with children using diggers, buckets, spades and other tools to explore, create and work together. Small world figures and imaginative play have encouraged storytelling, problem-solving and social interaction, helping children to develop important communication skills while having fun.

Learning Through Play

When the weather has been less favourable, we have continued our learning indoors through a variety of engaging activities. The children have enjoyed construction play using magnetic tiles, building towers, houses and imaginative creations while developing their creativity and fine motor skills.

We have also been practising our early mathematics skills through matching quantities to numbers, counting activities and number recognition games. These activities help to build strong foundations for future learning and support children’s confidence with numbers in a fun and interactive way.

Upcoming Events

We have several exciting events coming up over the next few weeks.

Father’s Day

Father’s Day takes place on Sunday 21st June, and the children have been busy preparing some special creations to celebrate the important dads and father figures in their lives. Keep an eye out for their wonderful surprises and heartfelt gifts.

National Thank a Teacher Day

Wednesday 17th June marks National Thank a Teacher Day. It is a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate the dedication, care and enthusiasm shown by teachers and early years practitioners every day. We are incredibly grateful to our fantastic team for the positive impact they have on our children’s learning and development.

Looking Ahead

As we approach the end of the summer term, we are preparing for our end-of-term celebrations on 15th July. This is always a special time as we celebrate the achievements and progress of all our children, while also wishing our school leavers every success as they begin their exciting next chapter in primary school this September.
